Keep Your Plans Secret

This drawing is a copy of a photo on the cover of Screen Actors Guild magazine. Shirley Temple Black is receiving a Lifetime Acheivement Award this year. She looks very innocent and happy with her puppy in her lap and her bib overalls on. I wanted to try using a Sharpie and it gives the drawing the look of a linocut I think. I drew it on a sheet of cardboard that came with this new pair of Gap underwear I bought. The silver rectangle in the trees is from a box of chocolate fortune hearts I got for Valentine's Day. It says, "Keep your plans secret." I like the way the fortune gives the innocent drawing of a girl and her dog an almost ominous quality. It makes the scene more ambiguous and open to interpretation.
